Artifact 14 - Safety and Sanitation Compliance of the Computer Information Systems Program

Safety is the number one priority of the Computer Information Systems Program.  Students are instructed on the first day of school each year on the safety guidelines of the classroom. Fire Drill procedures, lock down procedures and all other safety precautions are covered. Students are then given the rules to place in their classroom notebooks and the rules must be signed verifying that the students understand all safety guidelines for the program.

The safety guidelines for the Computer Information program are posted in the classrooms. Signs are also posted above the door that students are to exit during a fire drill and rules for a school lock down are also placed in the classroom. Students are instructed and drills are completed on what to do in case of a tornado or severe storm.

Also in the substitute teacher folder the substitute will find all safety rules and guidelines so that students will be safe in the absence of the instructor.

At the beginning of each school year, teachers receive professional development on HEPA training and basic first aid.  The classroom is prepared with simple basic first aid supplies such as  Band-Aids and disposable gloves. Any accident is to be reported to the instructor to determine if it is a basic first aid treatment or if further treatment is necessary. The classroom is provided with a telephone and an emergency button that goes straight to the main school office.  Students may also be sent to the school nurse by escort and if no escort is available, the school nurse will report to the student. An accident report must be completed immediately by the teacher.
