I work alongside my Career & Technical Education Advisor, Mr. David Graham to provide a minimum of 30 hours of professional development for all teachers at the Lee County Career & Technical Center. Several times I have conducted professional development at the Lee County School System County Wide In-Service and  provided professional development for all schools in the Lee County School System.

I have worked with the Virginia Department of Education and provided professional development for business educators preparing to teach the new  Information Technology Fundamentals Course, and also provided training at the Virginia Business Education Summer Conference.

I also work with Mountain Empire Community College to provide in-service and professional development to all business education teachers in our surrounding school districts.

Presently I serve as the Lee County School Systems Business Education Department Chair. As the county department chair I work with all the business education teachers in the Lee County School Systems. As a county wide department, we meet at least 4  times a year. Within these county wide meetings we discuss the growth of the business department.

I also serve as the Department Business Chair at the Lee County Career & Technical Center.  The Lee Career Center Business Department meets once every 9 weeks to discuss curriculum and needs in the business department.

The Lee County School System has an Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. I play two roles on this program committee, one as a teacher and the other as the role of a parent within in the school systems. The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is a universal intervention for the reduction and prevention of bully/victim problems. The main arena for the program is the school, and school staff has the primary responsibility for the introduction and implementation of the program.

Another committee and program I serve on is the Lee County Career & Technical Center Student Highlight Program.  The student highlight program was created to promote students in any career and technical program. The award system is used to highlight a student each month who meets certain criteria.  The program’s goal is to show the students that we appreciate their willingness to improve and how we respect them for maintaining their grades, attendance, and attitudes.  Local businesses sponsor our highlighted student of the month. Examples of sponsorship could be a gift card to a restaurant, gift card to a local department store, a savings bond, or anything that a business could provide to show that support this student and reward system.

I have never published an article, however, I am pleased to attach several newspaper articles that I have published for the Lee County School System. I have the honor of holding the duty of "Public Relations" for our school. I work closely with all departments with the Lee County Career & Technical Center and submit important activities of the school to our local newspaper "The Powell Valley News".
