Artifact 31 Examples of partnership involvement with the Computer Information Program

The Computer Information Program participates in several activities involving partnerships from the community. Each year we hold a Career Fair along with the other departments in the Career Center. Various businesses, colleges and organizations come out to provide students with up to date information on the workforce, college requirements and organizations that are available to the community.

We hold a Job Shadowing day each year with local businesses in our area. Students have the opportunity to go out and spend the day within an area of work.

The Computer Information Program has an Advisory Council that is a partnership among business educators, college professors, local businesses and retired teachers. The Advisory Council meets twice a year to discuss the changes, needs, and improvements of the program. Advisory Council members are served a small dinner and given a “thank you” gift for their involvement in the advisory council.

A wonderful program that we have is the partnership with businesses where the business sponsors a student each month. A criteria has been developed for a student highlight program. Once students are nominated and voted on, local businesses meet with the student for a photo opportunity and article in our local paper. The students are also awarded  a certificate and monetary gift from the sponsoring business.
