The Computer Information Systems Program may assist the student in preparing for the following certification examinations, national assessments, or licensure examinations approved by the Virginia Board of Education:
In our program at the Lee County Career & Technical Center we offer our students national certification in Microsoft Office. We are also pleased to announce that our classroom is now Certiport Certified with the Certiport Testing Center to where all our students can test in their own classroom. This makes for a wonderful testing environment.
Certiport offers individuals current and relevant digital skills and credentials for the competitive global workforce. Our students work with Certiport with the official Microsoft® Office certification programs. http://www.certiport.com
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) is the credential required by academia and business, recognized globally as the premier credential chosen by individuals seeking to validate their knowledge, skills and abilities relating to the Microsoft Office systems.

Artifact 28 Program certification for the Computer Information Systems Program
Students in the Computer Information Systems Program can become certified as a Microsoft Certified Application Specialist once they have completed one year of the Computer Information Systems Program. Students who are enrolled in the second year course may become certified in more than one area of the Microsoft Application Specialist Certification.

(1) Participate yearly with the Virginia Department of Education Virtual Academy training on Industry Certification.
(2) Receive up-to-date Industry Certification in Business Technology: Microsoft Office Certified in Office 2007, 2003, 2000, 1997; Internet and Computing Core Certified (IC3); National Professional Certification in Customer Service Research and Education, Certified in Advance Learning with ASK Business Institute.
(3) Participate in summer training provided by the VA Department of Education to initiate a new program of study called Information Technology Fundamentals.
(4) Initiate and responsible for Technology Professional Development for instructors at the Lee County Career & Technical Center
(5) Presented technology training sessions for the Lee County School System County Wide In-Service
(6) Scheduled and taught Professional Development courses for Instructors of local counties with Mountain Empire Community College
(7) Attend Summer Virginia Business Education Association Summer Conference hosted by the Virgininia Department of Education.
