Ever since 4th grade, I have played soccer from recreation to travel to high school to intramurals. My experience on the Varsity team at my high school taught me the importance of discipline, hard work and teamwork. I also gained great leadership as team captain. While I don't play as often now, I still love the game and enjoy playing as a way to build community and stay in shape. My Faber House community and I have started intramural teams and although we may not be the best, we have fun.
My dedication and passion for soccer has been inspired by my dad. My dad played college soccer and coached many of my travel soccer teams. He was the one who first taught me how to kick a soccer ball. He taught me so much more as my coach. Because of my dad, I also aspire to coach soccer in the future. During my summer working at the YMCA in Lake View, I taught a soccer class to 4 and 5 year olds for an hour each week. It was quite an experience to teach that young of an age, but it was great to see them progress and actually get better. I hope to help others come to love the game of soccer.
