After School Supervisor and Science Olympiad Coach

From August 2011 to May 2015, I worked at Sacred Heart Schools, a boys and girls Catholic school for grades K-8. As a before and after school supervisor, I provided guidance and supervision to students on the playground and in study hall. I worked mainly with the middle school students in study hall as I helped them with their homework and supervised them. In addition, I helped coach the Science Olympiads team on Wednesday afternoons during the school year. As a coach, I oversaw certain events and taught students how to think critically and solve problems. Events ranged from topics of criminology to meteorology to wheeled vehicles. As much as it was a competition to show the student's knowledge in an event, I appreciated the emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship at Sacred Heart. The team performed well placing at Regionals in order to advance to State each year. In addition, the team won the Spirit Award multiple times. My job at Sacred Heart was extremely rewarding in the fact that I saw students develop new skills and mature into young adults.
