Retreat Leader

Unwritten: Write a Better Story

In the Fall of 2013, I was a student leader for a retreat, which at the time was called Sophomore Retreat. The retreat focuses on four big questions: 1) What are you good at? 2) What brings you join? 3) Who does the world need you to be? and 4) Where does love fit in? I facilitated small group discussion and gave a talk on "Who does the world need you to be?" This retreat experience offered me time to be reflective and to look at my own life. The Fantashow presentation below shows my experience from the spring 2014 retreat. We had large group talks, small group discussions, challenge course activities and more.

At the end of the 2014 academic year, I was involved in transitioning the Sophomore Retreat to the Unwritten Retreat. We completely rebranded the retreat while keeping the content and central questions mostly the same. By doing this, we opened the retreat to Sophomores and Juniors to influence more people. We also added the tagline "What's Your Story" as we tell students that their stories are unwritten and now is the chance to share their stories and write a story that brings them joy. In the spring of 2015, I will be captain of the Unwritten Retreat. This means I will work closely with a staff member to oversee the student leaders for the retreat. I am excited for this opportunity to gain more leadership skills and to influence a new set of retreatants.
