Context:
This artifact was completed in the Fall of 2005 during my internship at Blue Ridge Elementary.  The lesson and accompanying activity is designed to be a service learning project for the students to interact and help their community.   

Impact:
I will be able to adapt this artifact in my future classroom as a way of getting my students involved in the community.  I will be able to modify the lesson for future service learning projects or can continue using the same lesson for this organization in the future.

Alignment:
Standard 4-11: By helping others, this project encouraged each of my students to be a good citizen.  Each student participated in the activity creating a sense of pride as well as developing the character of each student.
Standard 11-2: This lesson and activity enhanced the students' understanding of the humanities by involving them in civic duties such as helping others in need.
Standard 16-1: This activity involved students in an activity outside of the classroom through Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child.
Standard 16-7: By doing this service learning project, I encouraged the students to participate in volunteer activities that helped others in need.
