Context: This artifact was created during the fall of 2004 in World Literature for Children. The exam was taken under the direction of Dr. Janet Bloodgood.
Impact: This artifact is a representation of the knowledge and information that I gained about reading instruction. The exam includes information that relates to multicultural education and also focuses on terminology that is consistent within all educational fields.
Alignment:
Standard 14-4: I demonstrate an understanding of diversity within the classroom through this artifact. By advocating for the selection of multicultural literature in paragraph one, I am demonstrating a desire to explore multiple viewpoints within the community and the classroom.
Standard 14-5: Paragraph one of this artifact also demonstrates my ability to select bias free materials for my classroom including authentic multicultural literature.
Standard 14-6: By understanding how to select bias free materials such as multi cultural literature, I demonstrate the ability to search for more effective means of educating all students in order to match the diversity of all students within the classroom.
Standard 15-1: Paragraph one also illustrates my ability to select texts that can encourage under represented groups engage and excel in the schooling process. By utilizing community resources and by giving personal attention to under represented groups through the selection of multicultural texts I strive to encourage each of my students to grow and flourish within the classroom setting.
