Using Trade books in the Classroom

Context: This artifact was completed during the fall of 2004 in World Literature for Children.  Under the direction of Dr. Janet Bloodgood, I appraised the value of using trade books as a form of formal classroom instruction.

Impact: This activity impacted my view of formal reading instruction.  After completing research and formulating my own opinion of using trade books in the classroom, I decided that I would use trade books instead of basil texts in my future classroom.

Alignment:
Standard 1-3:
This artifact demonstrates my mastery of indicator three because literature is rarely found in Basil readers, or other texts.  Most commonly, the diverse range of literature is only found in trade book form.
