Multi-Text Assignment

Context: This artifact was created during the fall semester of 2005 in RE 4030-437.  The assignment was created under the supervision of Dr. Lynne Bercaw.

Impact:  In the future, I will be able to use this format to create other Multi-Text studies that address different curricula or, if possible, I could use this study in my future classroom.

Alignment:
Standard 1-5: This artifact plays off of information that the readers already know about farms, and integrates agriculture into the literature classroom.
Standard 1-
6: This artifact was designed to aid in students' personal growth both through literacy as well as through the knowledge of the business aspects of agriculture.
Standard 8-3: The students are encouraged the think critically about what they read throughout this artifact.  The artifact is designed with a series of worksheets and activities that allow for critical thinking about the text.
Standard 8-
4: This artifact encourages students to enjoy reading because it focuses on a trade book and may be deemed interesting by a particular group of students.  Furthermore, this artifact may be adapted to meet the interest levels of other types of students.
Standard 8-
5: This artifact uses books that encompass both fiction and non-fiction genres.  Furthermore, the two are linked together through internet web sites and activities, thus showing mastery of indicator five.
