During his time here at Loyola, Tyler has been very active working in various departments within the University. Tyler has also spent time outside of the Loyola community. In his freshman year, he was able to work as a district office intern for Illinois State Representative Cassidy. While concurrently working for State Rep. Cassidy, Tyler worked for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as a campus ambassador. In this role he gave various tours and served as a resource to visiting families and students. Tyler helped coordinate internal and external conferences, and guest stays in the Office of Conference Services. After spending some time outside of Loyola work for a membership-based non-profit, Tyler realized he missed the wonderful environment at Loyola. He currently works in the newly formed Office of Corporate Engagement.

In this role, Tyler brokers new and manages existing relationships between faculty, staff, vendors, and external organizations. He collaborates with corporate partners to develop programs aimed at attracting alumni in the workplace; supports the executive director by coordinating meetings and preparing presentations; assists the crafting and draft of the OCE strategic plan. For instance, Tyler has directly overseen Loyola’s participation and hosting of a small business week lecture series to coincide with Crain’s Chicago Business Small Business Week. With that project, He solicited faculty support; created marketing materials and the promotional campaign; and organized logistics with internal and external organizations. Using T4, Tyler manages the OCE website, content and image.

Tyler was one of two undergraduate interns working with Dr. Rob Kelly, former Vice President for Student Development. In partnership with the student conduct office, Tyler reviewed the Code, which is the "rule book" for Loyola students. Also ingrained in this internship was creating policies in areas of Title IX, retaliation, bullying and demonstration. Tyler spearheaded a civility project creating learning outcomes, a 90-minute presentation, and a facilitators guide. He found this topic of civility particularly interesting largely because it is a relatively new field and topic in higher education.

Tyler served as a concierge to guests during their stay. He responded to phone and email communications from clients on a daily basis. He also worked with accounts payable to produce weekly invoices for various guest and conference accounts. Tyler worked primarily with and became proficient with Kinetix, a system used to manage guest accounts and rooms.

By giving campus and residence hall tours to prospective students and families, Tyler promoted Loyola University Chicago. He created a welcoming and informative environment for all. He also hosted seven admitted seniors for an overnight campus visit in the spring of 2012. In addition, Tyler worked events with several thousand people in attendance by serving as a friendly face and resource.

Tyler spent most of his time with the Director of Communications. One of his main tasks was to gather constituent information to inform Representative Cassidy on current issues. Tyler drafted emails to constituents, and wrote press releases related to current pieces of legislation. He also helped organize community events for Representative Cassidy to engage her district such as, five 'Coffee with Kelly' meet n greets.
