Sign Language

Sign language was such an important piece of my internship so I thought I would include some of the key words we would use with residents to communicate. Most of my residents could communicate verbally, but I had a handful that needed to use sign language. Misericordia made me realize how important communication is. I got to talk, sign and use tablets with my residents to communicate. Residents have tablets connected to their wheelchairs that they can use to type out what they want to say. Sign language was a lot of fun to learn while I was in the fitness department even if it was a few words. Below I have included pictures of what some of the words we used look like.
