In 2005, the center invited local advisory members and stakeholders to review portfolios compiled by the program instructors.  Attached is the 2005 rubric for the local exemplary standards program. 

The Veterinary Assistant Instructor met with the Director of the center to plan goals for the program.  One of the goals was to measure student achievement throughout the year by administering general knowledge tests.  The goal was to have 100% of the students pass the final general knowledge test with a minimum score of 75%.  Last year, seventeen students in Veterinary Assistant II improved from a class average of 59.5% in September of 2012 to a class average of 83.2% in May of 2013.  Only three scores were shy of the mark; with percentages of between 70 and 74%.  Percentage averages for the Veterinary Assistant I students started at 51.6% in September, attaining an average of 82.9% by May 2013.  Based on that data, 82.3% of VAII students and 77% of VAI students passed the minimum score goal.  Despite falling short of the 100% goal, the instructor is pleased with the level of growth reflected in the test results.

During the 2013-2013 school year, all Pruden Center veterinary assistant students who were from Isle of Wight County Schools were given the Workplace Readiness Skills test by the CTE, Fine Arts, and Federal Programs Coordinator.  According to her report, 75 students from IOW were tested including the five enrolled in the veterinary assistant program.  The average score for the 75 students was 76.4 out of 100, ranging from 28% to 93%.  All five veterinary assistant students scored at 76% or above, with the average of those five being 83% (ranging from 76% to 88%).
