4d. The program is certified or recognized by industry, professional, and/or trade associations or state licensing agencies and can lead to postsecondary degrees, industry certifications, licensure, and other recognized credentials.

Artifact 27 - describe industry credentials available to students through this program

The Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine does not currently license or credential veterinary assistants, and there is no state or national credentials requirement for assistants.  Students may sit for credentialing tests in related areas, such as the NOCTI WRS test which was administered to several students last year, all of whom passed.  Many students completing the veterinary assistant program have gone on to post-secondary education in the field, and many have become licensed veterinary technicians.  A list of those students is included as an artifact.
