Welcome to the Standard 1- Development, Learning and Motivation page of my portfolio. 

I have attached my reading response paper as the first half for standard 1- development, learning and motivation. In my reading response I focus on five compelling points from the reading. They are important aspects to remember when teaching. 

I have also attached my teaching philosophy, since that also explains the development, learning and motivation of children. 

I also uploaded the lesson "Traveling the World", that meets this standard. I chose this lesson because in the lesson new vocabulary is introduces, and development of new and extension of prior knowledge about geography is also included. 

The lesson and reading response is attached as a Word Document as well as a PDF file. 

This lesson was taught with a team of four teachers total. We introduced and assessed the students' prior knowledge using a K.W.L chart. We introduced new vocabulary throughout the lesson using a Powerpoint as well. Also, we encouraged the students to complete a set of questions and use what they have learned for a ticket out at the end of the lesson. All of these strategies and tools used in our lesson meet the standard defined in the standard section of this page.
