"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
— Pablo Picasso

I had the experience of teaching students in PreK through 8th grade at a private Catholic school in Montgomery County, PA. Students were exposed to a variety of discipline-based lessons in both 2D and 3D media.

Contour Leaves

Contour Leaves

2nd graders learned the names of different types of lines, studied intricate lines on leaves, and drew the leaves on paper. They then used primary color pastels and blended them to create secondary colors to show how leaves change throughout the seasons.

4th and 5th graders learned about proportion and how to create gesture sketches quickly by simplifying the body into basic shapes. They studied the model and had the chance to pose for one another to show energetic actions in their people.

Ceramics

Empty Bowl Project

I co-teach a after school art service group. Students in the group created ceramic bowls for a local empty-bowl dinner. Money generated from sale of the bowls goes to help promote awareness for hunger and homelessness in the area.
