Final reflection

My experience with Felice's has been something that I never would have expected. As I stated earlier, I came into this company under the impression that it would be just another job on my resume. However, I soon realized that my time with Felice's would mean much more to me than I ever expected. It would teach me how to manage my time. It would teach me how to accept my mistakes and learn from them. It has transformed me into a leader. It has allowed me to be accepting of criticism and critique. It has taught me the value of hard work. It has given me life long friends, experiences, and memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. This semester, the biggest lesson I learned was how to let go. It was very difficult to realize that my time at such an amazing program is coming to end and it was very bittersweet.

The most meaningful connection I made between the EXPL 390 course content and my time at Felice's was the analysis of our social identities and how that related to any job. Upon reading, The Real Effects of Unconscious Bias in the Workplace and What Happened When My White Boss Talked to Me About Race in America, I was able to understand how my social identity differs from that of everyone else. Whether it be through race, ethnicity, political stance, religion, etc., everyone is unique in their own way and that is the beauty of the diversity of humanity. I have learned to appreciate so many social identities at Felice's working with a staff of over 25 individuals every year. Being able to do this is so humbling. I love the different quirks and viewpoints that everyone on the staff, past or present, has brought into the workplace.

Being a Biology major and running a business offer many obvious challenges. I think the biggest challenge I encountered here was learning how to manage my time effectively. Without the guidance and help from my supervisors and the encouragement of friends, family, co-workers, and professors at Loyola, I never would have been as successful in this position as I have.

Moving forward I hope to apply the skills I have gained at my internship with Felice's to better my chances at getting into Physician's Assistant school. Not many people can say that they went to school full-time and managed a fully functional business during their under grad! For that, I am eternally grateful!

This photo shows my graduation gown as well as the cord I received for my participation with Loyola Limited the last four years. In this photo there is a little bit of my past accomplishments with Loyola Limited and Felice's, and the future accomplishments I will achieve, represented by the graduation gown itself.
