Course Reflection

When I was first told that I had to take this course, I couldn't really understand why. I was already pretty tech savvy and I expected to gain very little from this course, maybe a couple of ways to teach technology, but that was it. I figured it would be a pretty easy A. Even though it was an easy A, that didn't make the information I learned less important. This course exceeded my expectations of what I would gain. I definitely learned a lot more than I though I would from this class. I think the most interesting things that I learned were the issues in technology in education. Hearing about the issues that we will have to deal with everyday when in a classroom is very interesting, and we need to be aware of these issues to try and reduce the problems they will cause. The least interesting things I learned about in this class were the instructional software functions. Even though learning about each of those is important, it was still not as interesting as the rest of the information we learned.

I think this course needs a little more information at the end of lesson 5, or at least have the students do a short assignment on googling and finding information about research & reference tools, and content area tools. I googled those two sections for my ePortfolio and found some interesting things that I'm not sure anyone else will see or read unless they look at my portfolio or google the information themselves. I did enjoy how Ms. Bailey made everything more interesting, bringing in the VR headsets and doing a section on hoax sites. They were important topics that we learned about in a fun way.

My one piece of advice for students is to do the work. This class is really easy and really fun, but if you don't do the work or turn it in late, you'll probably fail the class.

Thanks Ms. Bailey!
