Technology integration strategies require both hardware and software. Hardware is the computing equipment that is being used to run software. Every piece of technology that we have, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc. have some software being used on it. Sometimes software and data must be stored outside of the hardware for one reason or another, so using storage media, such as CD's, DVD's, and flash drives are a good idea.
Hardware is used by everyone nowadays. It is especially important to know the different hardware when wanting to use technology in a classroom. Teachers must know what kind of hardware they want to use and be knowledgeable in how to use it. Integrating this technology into the classroom properly is very important. The hardware that can be used in a classroom are microcomputers, handhelds, display technologies, imaging technologies, peripherals, and external storage devices.
Schools do much more than teach children. There are many different software applications that are designed to help students, teachers, and administrators in schools. These software applications can be one of three different categories: instructional, productive, and administrative. Instructional applications help teachers teach the material that needs to be learned. Productive applications help students and teachers stay organized using things like spreadsheets and database programs. Lastly, administrative applications help administrators keep record of things like student attendance and payroll systems.
