Context:

This is an integrated unit titled "The Middle-Ages," which can be used with 6th grade students.  This unit was created at Appalachian State University under the advisement of Ellen Pesko and Bendy Pennington, a sixth grade teacher at Blue Ridge Elementary School in Ashe County, North Carolina.  I completed this integrated unit as a requirement for CI 4000, Curriculum and Instruction in the Elementary Classroom. Throughout this unit, students will be introduced to facts surrounding the Middle-Ages, as well as reading the novel, The Midwife’s Apprentice by Karen Cushman. Students will be exposed to both fiction and nonfiction literature surrounding the Middle-Ages.
