Project Topics and Descriptions

Refer to this page for information about all course projects in one location. For more details on each project see the week-by-week class pages.

Each project will be attached to your Directed Response Folio in TaskStream along with a brief reflection on how you would use, promote, and support the technology represented in the project.

Class 1

Spreadsheet
Spreadsheet created using data acquired from the M&M Exercise. The spreadsheet should include a title, row and column headings, correct and efficient formulas, consistent percentage and decimal formatting, and a meaningful chart.

Class 2

Newsletter
Newsletter created relating (at least in part) to technology, for an audience of teachers, parents, or peers. Your newsletter should contain the following:
  • three articles, at least one of which is promoting/showcasing a "best practice" with technology, or advocating change toward a best practice with technology (this could be at your school or based on some web research - see Recommended Web Sites)
  • a masthead/title over the entire newsletter and headings/headlines for each article
  • at least two fonts and alignments of the text in accordance with good design principles
  • use of section breaks and columns to produce a pleasing layout
  • incorporation of at least two different types of graphics (WordArt, clip art, images from the Internet, etc.)

    Class 3

    PowerPoint - basics
    PowerPoint created in class during PowerPoint introduction; should be an overview of something familiar to you (autobiography, overview of a school program, item for a staff meeting or parent presentation, etc.).

    Your PowerPoint should contain (at least) the following:
  • A title slide with your name and title of the presentation
  • Six (6) slides (this includes the title slide)
  • Two graphics (from different sources)
  • Text animation on bullet points
  • Transitions between slides
  • If you are already comfortable with PowerPoint basics, please take this opportunity to try some more advanced techniques.

    Class 4

    PowerPoint TSSA Presentation
    PowerPoint created and delivered alone or with peers to share about a particular TSSA standard or set of related standards.

    Your PowerPoint should contain (at least) the following:

  • A title slide with your name and title of the presentation
  • At least six (6) content slides (not including title, introductory, or concluding slides)
  • Two graphics (from different sources)
  • Text animation on bullet points
  • Transitions between slides
  • At least some additional multimedia capabilities (such as sounds, additional images, video, hyperlinks, non-text animations) to enhance your presentation
  • Make sure your content has depth and is well organized, preferably with introductory and concluding slides
