What I Learned Here and Abroad

Very rarely does a class impact a student as much as University 292 has to me this semester. I was able to question my experience, ask for guidance, and hear other’s observations as well. My Ghana experience changed my life through the love I saw and the service that I provided, but UNIV taught me to question and understand my feelings. Ghana taught me to be compassionate, loving, and frugal. It inspired my life not only to represent that community in the United States but everywhere I go in my lifetime. I went from questioning my year off after undergrad to relishing the chance to make a difference in another person’s life. Without Loyola’s willingness to listen to their students and integrate a brand new course for Global Brigades, I would not have challenged myself to look at an unconventional path. College taught me to think beyond myself and to go the extra distance and through UNIV I was able to find that path and receive the encouragement and resources needed to start the journey.
