As a curriculum designer, I am intentional and integrative above all else. When developing a course that I intend to teach myself, or in collaboration withother faculty members, I employ strategies of "integrated course design" or "backwards design" to make sure that course activities, assessments, and learning goals are inter-dependent and inter-related. I believe strongly in outcomes-based curriculum development, and in being intentional about mapping learning goals to course requirements. My interest in curriculum design was sparked as an undergraduate student in a service-learning class, where I realized the power of high-impact, co-curricular learning experiences. As a graduate student, I enrolled in an elective course on Curriculum Design & Development, which I have applied to every professional role I have held thus far.
