Club Discovery was a group facilitated by three Mercy College occupational therapy students in order to address changes in quality of life and well being among a group women who were cancer survivors, diagnosed with cancer or who have had or were currently undergoing therapeutic treatment for their present state of health. This group ran for five sessions and took place in Westchester N.Y. on Fridays. The group theme focused on promoting overall health, well being, and increasing quality of life through educational and interactive sessions. The sessions provided participants with tools to use outside of the group such as alternative exercising techniques specifically geared towards a cancer population that incorporated energy conservation techniques, nutritional guidance to promote overall increased energy to fuel the mind and body, sleep and wellness health training, home based exercises and iPads to guide and promote overall health through use of applications and technology in order to increase wellbeing among a cancer population.
