Fifth Grade, October 2005 - December 2005

  • Prepared and taught lessons in science, social studies, and reading-language arts for twenty-three students incorporating New York State Standards.
  • Developed and taught a science unit covering the body systems.  Instruction was hands-on and inquiry based which fostered collaborative group work.
  • Discussed student performance with parents during parent-teacher conferences.
  • Integrated guided reading and direct response thinking activities into reading instruction.
  • Incorporated differentiated instruction into teaching by focusing on auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and tactile learning styles. 

Prekindergarten, September 2005 - October 2005

  • Prepared age-appropriate lessons for seventeen students, aged three and four, incorporating New York State Learning Standards. 
  • Developed and taught differentiated, cross-curricular unit on "Apples".  The link to view my unit is posted below.
  • Integrated many picture books, songs, and movement activities into lessons to engage students in learning while strengthening reading, listening, and speaking skills. 
  • Taught hands-on science lessons which encouraged students’ active participation.
