Freshman Work Experience

Cox Exploratory Scholar

I started working as a Indiana University Peer Coach in the Spring of 2016. I have been helping students with adding and dropping classes, registration, extra curricular activities, and navigating through the Indiana University websites. I also work on the Peer Coach Technology Team, where we assess Indiana University's various online resources and experience them from the student user interface. We determine ways to improve these resources for undergraduates, as well as generate surveys for student feedback. This occupies around eight to ten hours a week, as required by the scholarship contract.

I took EDUC-U 212 in the Fall of 2015 to learn the resources to become a successful IU Peer Coach. We learned how to use the university's online resources for scheduling, dropping/adding classes, advising, and other online activities. We read textbooks on what a student is, what a student should be, how the student thinks, and how to help students.

Undergraduate Instructor for CSCI-C 211

Because of my excellent participation and grade in the class, I was offered a position as a undergraduate instructor for CSCI-C 211: Introduction to Computer Science Spring of 2016 class. Each week, I hold office hours for two hours, and teach students in lab. I grade their lab assignments each week, as well as alternate helping the professor in lecture and grading. I immensely enjoyed the class the previous semester, and am very excited and honored to be able to teach the future students in Computer Science.

High School Work Experience

Emerald Theaters and Scoops Ice Cream - May 2014-May 2015

I worked as a server and cashier at both a theater and ice cream store. I managed the ice cream store during shifts, maintained the store, and counted the register at night.

Mission Trip - Summer 2012

I went on a mission trip to Henderson, Kentucky for a week. I helped repaint a handicapped lady's home and helped with other general chores around her home. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience.
