Next Steps

My next steps will be those of a student. I am going to be completing my final year at Loyola during the 2018-2019 academic year. During that time, I will be taking a lot of Chemistry and Mathematics courses, which will keep me very busy. I also plan on taking the UNIV 224 – Career and Life Planning Seminar course offered by the Career Development Services. It seems like a natural step for me after taking this Experiential Learning course. I think I still have so much to learn, especially in terms of what type of jobs my degree can offer me. I am hoping this course will help me refine my job searching skills, so I can find the positions I am interested in post-graduation. I plan to continue my position at Play-Well TEKnologies until the end of my undergraduate career. I really love what I do, and I can’t fathom giving up the flexible schedule or the joy it brings me.

After college it is my hope to go straight into industry and work for a brewery or a company that is in the food chemistry field. My position as a Lead Engineering Instructor has shown me the joys of teaching, so I also plan to do some more research on teaching; it is a career path I am very open to. In addition, I still have a large desire to find a place in the Walt Disney Company. I know they have internships in the science fields and I am looking into those opportunities for immediately after graduation. There are a lot of paths I could take, and honestly, I hope I can take them all at some point in my life. I’m not entirely sure what the next few years will bring, but I believe the world is my oyster. In the mean time I will use my knowledge and resources to make the best decisions I can for myself.

One of my proudest moments will be when I graduate next year. College may have taken me a while, but the journey that takes me there will be all worth it.

One of the opportunities I am considering after graduation is working for the Walt Disney Company again. I would love to work behind the scenes, working as a scientist.
