I believe in dreams and in striving for things that seem entirely impossible. For this reason, I have a bucket list that I created in 2010. Some of the items are 100% in my power to accomplish, others may happen by freak coincidences, and still others by divine intervention. I'll let you decide which fall in each category ...
August 2012: This picture was taken moments before Michelle Obama took both her hands in my hand over a crowd and said to me, "girl, you were making me cry up there." I responded that she had no idea how much I related to her story.
March 2010: I was privilege to present our transgender research at ACPA, a national conference. While gender identity exploration will be a continual experience for me, it was a wonderful opportunity to share our findings with my colleagues.
October 2004: Although we are still searching for a cure for Alzheimer's, I was able to honor my family taken by this horrible disease as well as raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association by running the Chicago Marathon.
This seems like a small item to put on a bucket list, but I find that in the busyness of the days, reading is always pushed down on the priority list. But this little man has helped me prioritize it (and to be an expert with classics like "The Little Engine That Could!"
