Class Projects

As part of the social justice issue assignment, the SJIs all had to do a presentation on an issue in the world or in Chicago that surrounded issues of justice and equity. My partner Matt Sanchez and I put together a presentation on food deserts in Chicago, and through our research we came to a conclusion that linked causes, experiences, and responses of the issue together, suggesting a comprehensive and nuanced recommendation of ways to better respond to this issue.

Homeless Asset Map of Chicago Loop

Another class issue project surrounded asset mapping of a Chicago neighborhood, looking at assets that specifically pertain to one theme or topic. I did my project on assets in the Chicago Loop area that pertain to homelessness, seeing public spaces and assistive agencies as assets in this area, while recognizing the hardships that a lack of low-income housing and shelters do to this community.

Leadership Profile

During the unit on Leadership Theory, I put together a profile of a leader in my life that exemplified all the traits one would require to be an effective and efficient leader. Kayla is my supervisor at my internship placement, and it is through her leadership and friendship that I was able to complete this internship with all the knowledge and joy possible.
