Brief Introduction of the media project – What is the value of using this type of media project in education? What specific literacy issues will this media project help address? What impact on student learning do you foresee occurring with the use of this media project in the classroom setting? What ethical or social issues might be of concern? Will this media project encourage use of problem solving skills by the learner? The value of creating a wiki account in the field of education is to help engage your classroom in a environment where the use of technology is implemented in the every day activity of the students. The children can access their class wikis for a number of reasons, to read articles relating to lessons, to take quizzes, to search the internet and conduct research, to view the class schedule to remind the children about the events that are up and coming. This wiki will help to promote the children and their digital literacy, through allowing them to go online and view different pages, and access different resources. I foresee a this digital media as having a positive impact on student learning in the classroom, if the teacher is creative enough with the materials and the ways that he/she has he class use the wiki I think that children can gain a lot of knowledge not only about using technology but also just knowledge in general about different subjects like; math, science, history, and English. I do not think that there will be a social or ethical problem among students, using a wiki in a classroom doesn't change the different types of content being studied, it just changes the way that the children go about accessing this content. I think that this media project could encourage the use of problem solving skills by the learners in regards to solving problems that they have to deal with when they are using the computer and the internet.
Specifically identify one or two goals/objectives: Students will be able to access the class wiki page, and locate the different assignments and quizzes posted on the class wiki. Students will also be able to navigate their way around the class wiki, and locate the class schedule for the day and the class homework assignments.
Subject matter – What is (are) the subject matter(s)? Does integration of subject matters take place? How has this media project addressed cultural responsiveness teaching? The subject matter for this class wiki is 4th grade science.
What learning styles will most likely be attracted to this media creation? Visual learners will most likely be attracted to this media creation.
What instructional strategies have been utilized? The teacher will have to use a lot of repetition when first introducing the class wiki to make sure that the students have a grasp on what they are actually going to be expected to do when using the class wiki.
Is this a self-paced or teacher-directed media project? This is both a self-paced, and self-directed teacher project.
Would an individual or group use this media project? A group would use this media project.
What type of learning assessment will be used? Has learning transfer been thought about in your media creation and if yes how? There will be an informal learning assessment, the teacher will know that the children are using the wiki correctly by observation and whether or not the children are on task and completing the assignments that are posted on the class wiki.
