This artifact is a lesson relating to the social studies content because it teaches the children about immigration and the journey that people made from their home countries to the new land of America in search of better opportunities. This lesson teaches children not only about the past history of America but it also focuses on the children's ancestors and where their roots came from.
This lesson appeals to me because it involves the use of kinesthetics in the activity where the children pretend that they are on their home land immigrating to America which is located across the room and the way that the children get from point A to point B is through using hula hoops and stepping in them. This lesson also allows children to work on their social skills like communication and teamwork because they work in groups to accomplish their task.
