Kaitlin LaPlante Fall 09

Standard 2.2 Science

The first artifact that I have uploaded to this section of standard to correlates directly with science. It is a lesson that focuses on teaching children about the rock cycle and the different phases that rocks go through. This lesson is a great way for the students to find out hands on, how a sediment transforms to igneous and then metamorphic through using crayon shavings as the "sediment" and melting them with hot water into the other rock type.

Writing this lesson gave me experience in making lessons interactive and fun for the children as well as creating an assessment for the children to complete after they have participated in the lesson. This lesson appeals to me because I feel as if it is a very creative and unique way to represent the rock cycle so that the children will be able to better remember their material that they are begin taught.
