Standard 1 - DEVELOPMENT, LEARNING AND MOTIVATION

The artifact for standard 1 that I have selected to upload first, is my reading response paper on Jonathon Kozol's book "Letters to a Young Teacher". This paper that I have written corresponds with this standard because it demonstrates my use of different research and educational experiences, and how I would apply the knowledge that I have gained from this research in my future classroom.

This artifact reflects my different points of view on teaching in the classroom as a young teacher and my awareness of the difficulties that I may have to face along the way. This artifact also describes some of the interesting information that I have learned from reading the book "Letters to a Young Teacher", as well as the different techniques used in the book to teach in a classroom, some of which I agree with and others I am not very fond of.

The second artifact that I have selected for this section is my educational philosophy. Throughout reading the philosophy that I have constructed you will see and understand how I have used and gathered information from different theorists that I agree with to enhance my teaching.

The teaching philosophy that I have created for this portfolio is the most recent one that I have written. I benefit from writing a teaching philosophy to help me better understand and organize my thoughts and beliefs about teaching. I will become more educated on different teaching techniques and theories, therefore this philosophy is subject to change.
