Artifact #74 - Enrollment anaylsis

We feel confident that our enrollment in Fire and Rescue will continue to increase each year, especially with the opening of our new Health and Public Safety Building in Fall 2010.  Our school places alot of our recruitment efforts on the non-traditional student and the enrollment in Fire and Rescue is a good example of that.  The percent of female students enrolled is outstanding.

Also, we make every effort to meet the needs of our students with disabilities.  We have two Resource teachers who work closely with the Fire and Rescue program to make sure these students are successful.

Our overall school enrollment for minorities is fairly low, though our Hispanic population is on the increase.  We will continue our efforts to recruit non-traditional and minority students.  

Our school does not track LEP or Econ Dis student information.

Artifact #76 - Compentcy attainment analysis

100% of our completers attained at least 80% of competencies.  We place a great deal of importance on this goal and are pleased that our Fire and Rescue program has met this goal since its inception.  We would like to see more non-traditional and minority students become completers.  We will continue to work toward that goal.

Artificact #77 - Certification analysis

In Fire and Rescue program at MTC, students are able to achieve the following certifications:  CPR, First Aid, ICS-100, Haz-Mat Awareness/Operations, EMT, Firefighter I (1st year students) and Firefighter II (2nd year students.

Our goal in this class is to see 100% of the eligible students participate in the credentialing assessment and for 100% of those taking the assessment to achieve certification.  We are proud to say that, in just 3 short years, we are close to achieving our goals.

In CPR, for the last two years, we have had 100% pass rate; in First Aid, for the last two years, we have had 100% pass rate.  In ICS-100, we have achieved a 100% pass rate since we began offering the certification.  In the advanced Haz-Mat Operations certification, we are currently over 90% pass rate and for EMT, we have improved from 66% to last year's 100% pass rate.  This is also the case for Firefighter II where we have moved from 55% pass rate to 100% last year, and we are confident that our numbers will be similar this year. 

Finally, for Firefighter I, for the last two years, we have gone from 66% to 80% pass rate and, perhaps more significantly, we have had four females become certified.
