Artifact 41 - career outlook for this program

employment.jpg Both of our local municpal Fire and Rescue Departments have projected a continuing need for career firefighters as our area's population continues to grow.  See attachment for recent employment projections made by Rockingham County Fire and Rescue.   At the national level, the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics projects similar growth for health and human services providers which includes firefighters.

The first letter is from a parent, Mr. Michael Brown.  The remaining letters are from area community partners.  They all reference their support for Fire and Rescue and its expansion and move into a new $1 million addition at MTC.  They exemplify the collaboration between MTC and area employers and government officials.

Summary….

 

The Fire & Rescue Program participates in the Work-Based Learning Program during the month of May for all second-year students.  Students report to Fire Stations in the afternoons instead of reporting to MTC.  A Program Agreement is completed before placement in the Fire Station, students turn in a Time Sheet at the end of the month to the WBL Coordinator, and an Evaluation is completed and submitted to the teacher to incorporate with their six week’s grade.
