# 66 Green CTSO Community Service or Classroom Projects
Our classes are participants in recycling plastics, cans, and paper products. All foam products used during our training exercises are biodegradable. We do not burn any treated or painted wood products for live fire training. Recycled wood pallets and older hay and straw are used for the production of fire and smoke.
Artifact #67 - Green Competencies
1. Students must be able to Identify basic HazMat standards and resources for handling an incident.
2. Students will learn to properly clean hazardous materials in the case of a spill -on land or water.
3. Students will participate in a drill in the school's nearby creek, Black Run, where a hazmat spill will be simulated.
4. Students will be able to properly dispose of hazardous materials.
5. Students will be involved in planting trees on school property and will understand the need for ripairian buffers to prevent hazarous waste issues.
