Artifact #80 – Program review

The Fire and Rescue program is a collaborative effort with MTC, Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County Fire and Rescue. The instructor is a Lieutenant, employed by Rockingham County Fire and Rescue. As a result, the program and instructor are reviewed on a regular basis to make sure that it is meeting the needs of our students and area employers. Since it is one of the few fire and rescue programs in Virginia that is a fully-certified program, it is required to meet numerous state mandates as set by the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Fire Programs.

In addition, MTC administration regularly reviews and meets with instructors to ensure that they are organizing their classes to meet the mission that MTC sets. MTC Administration also undertakes ‘smart walks’ to drop in and observe classes and instructors on an informal basis. Administrative staff meets with instructors to review these regular observations with them and works with them on program improvement.
