Over this past semester I have learned a great deal about technology that can be used in the classroom. Technology is a great tool and can effectively further student learning. It is becoming more and more important for people to understand and be able to use technology efficiently. It is being used for more and more.
I believe that I have grown throughout this course. I have learned many different ways that technology is beneficial to my future students. There are so many different programs and tools available for classroom use. Google sites, WebQuests, and VoiceThread are all extremely beneficial for students. Also, many of the programs allow the teachers to create the project and the students to use them. However, many of these programs are so simple to use that students in higher grades could create the projects themselves. I think that this would really help students to become familiar with technology. Technology is so important in this era and it is always changing. Students need to be familiar with the way it works so that they may grow with the changing technological society.
I really enjoyed the iMovie and YouTube project that we made for the class. It was a group assignment that allowed the different perspectives of everyone in the group to be combined to create the video. Shooting the video was frustrating because we only had an hour to shoot it and it was raining a little. In the video we needed to be using a motorcycle and the wet roads made riding the motorcycle difficult. Even though it was a little frustrating it was also a lot of fun. Also, when the group met to create the video on iMovie we had a great time. We were able to add in funny tidbits and tweak the video to make it better.
I enjoy working in groups more than I like working individually. A project that I worked individually on was the VoiceThread. It was a good project but it was not as much fun to create. I was not able to get any other perspectives on the project. I think I benefit more from group work because I am able to learn what the others in the group know. When working individually I am able to figure things out for myself but I think that I learn more from others than I do figuring things out for myself.
