Founded in 1919, Beta Alpa Psi is an international honor society for financial information students and professionals. In recognition of outstanding scholastic record, sophomores and juniors with overall GPAs of 3.4 or above are invited to become a member of the Ithaca College Mu Alpha Chapter .
The Mu Alpha Chapter was installed on April 30, 2008 and is one of only 300 chapters on college and university campuses. The mission of our Beta Alpha Psi Chapter is to recognize scholastic and professional excellence of students with majors in the fields of accounting and finance. Beta Alpha Psi complements members' formal education by:
•Promoting the study and practice of professional fields related to these disciplines;
•Providing opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing financial professionals; and
•Encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibilities.
High academic achievement, strong ethical behaviors, professional development, and giving back to the community mirror the expectations of future potential employers. We translate this mission into creating numerous professional programs, activities and demanding of our members a commitment to active participation in programs, events, and community service. Below are a few major events:
• Organize a 3-day trip to New York City in early Fall to meet with accounting and finance firms such as Morgan Stanley, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Citigroup, and KPMG
• Host a Spring Initiation Banquet
• Run the Accounting/Finance Tutor Lab throughout the year
• Invite professionals and panels to provide presentations or workshops approximately every week during the semester.
