Teaching is an adventure and is a constant learning experience. Like Joseph Joubert said, "to teach is to learn twice." A classroom is setup with many open minds that have a willingness to learn. I believe that is the responsibility of the teacher to present the world of knowledge in a way that keeps the student attentive, motivate and eager to learn more. To do this I think you should be creative, enthusiastic, organized, fair, and knowledgeable but above all you should enjoy everyday that you teach. I have a philosophy that does not fit into a certain category. My philosophy is one that has been created over the years that covers every aspect of learning that I believe to be imperative. My philosophy is that a teacher should do everything in his or her power to make a student want to learn; while still maintain their professional status.
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “be the change you want to see in the world;” my way of doing this is to teach the best way I know how. I think that if you truly want to make a difference you start at the beginning; you influence the way a child thinks about school and learning in general. I think if you want a child to enjoy a subject you have to show them you enjoy it and it is actually interesting. I want to teach like it is a production and every lesson is like a new scene. To capture my students’ attention I plan acting like a complete fool, where I dress up in costumes, dance around, make up chants and games, anything to make sure they have a chance to understand the information present to them. Seeing the excitement and enthusiasm of a student who wants to read another chapter or learn more about plants would show that I have accomplished changing the world.
