Science Safety Survey
Context:
This survey was created for GS4401 in the fall of 2007, under the advisement of Jeff Goodman. The purpose of this survey was to point out the different safety issue to be aware of.
The survey covered all aspects of an elementary classroom and things that are need for the safety of the students.
Impact:
By taking all of the necessary safety precautions that are on the survey the students became aware of the procedures and measures that they need to take. From the survey the students learned what their health/safety rules are, escape procedures and routes and allergy protection. By being informed of these things the students are more likely to stay safe and healthy.
Alignment:
Standard 17: Elementary teachers understand safety and liability issues in elementary and advocate appropriate safety materials and enforcement practices in the classroom.
Indicator 1: This was met by understanding the needs of every student and making sure they perform activities correctly.
Indicator 2: This was met by analyze all of the chemicals and substances in the room to make sure that they are safe. The chemicals were researched on MSDS as well.
Indicator 3: This standard was met by understanding what precautions to take and by inspecting the classroom to make sure it meets all of the standards.
Indicator 4: This standard was met by creating health and safety rules that the students must comply by. Also, there was a hand-washing procedure that was created and is model everyday.
Indicator 5: This standard was met by becoming aware of all of the safety issues and procedures and taking the necessary precautions to make sure everyone stays safe.
