Tracking Teresa Rationale

Context: This lesson was design for Ms. Terry Mitchell in Summer 2007 for HE 3645. I created this lesson using multiple websites online through the Google search engine.

The purpose of this lesson was to educated students on a specific area in health.

Impact: In this lesson students were told about the dangers of communicating to strangers on the phone, internet, or face to face. They were put face to face with a stranger and taught the proper way to deal with them. The students did activities to show how hard it is to know who a stranger is. Finally, they witness a real internet conversation with a stranger.

From this lesson the students were able to take away knowledge of how to excerise precaution with strangers as well as what to do if they were caught in one of the situations.

Alignment:

Standard 5: Elementary teachers have an understanding of the major concepts of healthful living.

Indicator 1: This indicator was met by showing the students that if they know the warning signs of a stranger and how to protect themselves; they can easily avoid danger.

Indictor 2: This indicator was met by knowing what students do in their free time and being able to prepare them for problems that they might encounter on the phone, internet, and in public.

Standard 13: Working alone, or with healthful living specialists, elementary teachers create opportunities for student development and practice of skills that contribute to good health.

This standard was met by allow students to experience and explain what they would do if they encountered a stranger. These methods were noted to keep the children out of danger.
