Story Pictures Rationale

Context:  This lesson was created for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching, in Spring 2007.  It was created with instructions from Professor Mary Rogers.  To produce this lesson I worked along with Tyson Pentacost.  We used a digital still camera, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word to create our finally lesson.

This Story Pictures assignment was based on the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstien.  The lesson deals with language arts and technology for third grade.

Impact:  With this assignment students were able to show considerable improvement in their ability to use Microsoft Word.  The lesson requires the students to use the copy and paste functions, as well as, writing two grammatical correct paragraphs.  In these two paragraphs the students should show incite to their knowledge of the story.

The assignment could be expanded to challenge the students moral values.  They will be able to use this lesson to better understand giving and sharing. Also, they will be able to better navigate Microsoft Word.
