Classroom Webpage Rationale
Context: This webpage was created for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching, in Spring 2007. It was created with instructions from Professor Mary Rogers. It was designed for an elementary classroom. To produce this lesson many forms of technology were used. The articles on the webpage were created with a still digital camera, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word.
The purpose of this webpage was to inform my students and their parents about all of the different resources provided to them. The webpage was used to inform the viewer about helpful sites, current events, homework, and pictures of the students participating in school.
Impact: This webpage was created to inform parents and students about events going on in the school, homework assignments, and interesting things that went on in the classroom. On the webpage there are links for both parents and students to helpful websites. These links included information about the school, health issues, and homework helpers. The webpage was very easy to use and navigate by all. By using them webpage parents and students gained a lot of valuable information. The students that used the webpage always knew what was going on in class and had resources to help them complete the projects. Then parents that used the webpage knew exactly help to help their child with specific problems.
Alignment:
NETS-T II-E: This standard was met because with the use of the webpage students were informed constantly about what was going on in the class. They were also able to access information on safe websites.
NETS-T II-C: This NET-T standard was met by providing appropriate websites for both parents and students to use for educational purposes. Each site was labeled specifically to meet the needs of both parents and students.
NETS-T V-A: This standard was met by having a variety of websites the included on the webpage that can be updated to meet the changing society. Information is also provided that helps improve lessons and classroom activities.
NETS-T VI-A: This standard was met by providing a permission slip that was addressed to the parents to allow us to photograph or film their child.
NETS-T VI-C: Many of the websites posted on the webpage could be viewed in different languages. Also, some cities focused on specific ethnicities and the release form was in Spanish and in English as well.
NETS-T IV-B: The survey posted on the webpage took current research and used it to survey the students in the classroom to compare data. The survey was conduct in hopes of improving the overall classroom environment and lessons.
NETS-T II-B: This standard was met by having a list of useful media literacy links. The annotated links provided information about where to find technology, how to use it. The websites assisted in helping to incorporate more technology into the classroom.
NETS-T V-B: This standard was met by reflecting upon the websites content to ensure that the information provided was useful. The webpage supported student learning by including educational games.
