Rationale for Teacher Classroom Webpage

Context

In my CI3750 class, one of our projects was to make a webpage for our future elementary classroom.  We used TaskStream to create the web page and we published it to the internet.  The address for my web page is:

http://www.taskstream.com/ts/lowery3/Classroom.html

This web page is password protected.  To get the password contact me with my information on the home page

I included a calendar/events page, homework page, student page, parent page, internship photo gallery page, an ad media literacy page.  My group and I created a survey about T.V. habits to give to our third graders; this is on the media literacy page.  Then I reflected on the data I gathered and wrote a summary.

Impact

I can use this webpage in my classroom when I teach.  Studnets will be able to use this webpage to see homework assignments and to get homework help if they need it.  Parents will be able to use this to see what homework their children have and to look at upcoming events.  They will also find out interesting information about healthy and unhealthy T.V. habits.

Alignment

I have met competencies IIB and IIC because I gave my classroom parents and students current websites for them to access information about topics in education.  I also researched the media topic Television and gave websites and information for parents to read to learn more about healthy and unhealthy television habits.  Our instructor gave us an accurate and current website to begin our research (www.justhink.org).

I met competency IIE because I can use this web page to manage my students' homework.  If a student is absent, he/she can look at our classroom web page to see what we did that day.

I met competency IVB when I gave my students in my internship classroom a survey about their T.V. habits.  I have a page created on my classroom web page that gives the results and a summary of this data.  It is important that I understand elementary age children and their involvement with media.

I met competency VA because I have created a web page that I will continue to use in my professional career.  I can subscribe to TaskStream each year and will be able to create additional web pages such as the Story Pictures web page I made.
