Context:
I taught this lesson during my student teaching, in Mrs. Tallent’s second grade class at North Brook elementary school. To create this lesson I discussed with Mrs. Tallent what she thought would be best for the students to learn at this time of the year. Together we decided that they would most benefit form some typing skills.
Impact:
This lesson impacted the students by giving them the opportunity to really look at the key board so they could start to learn where the letters are. It also impacted them by meeting second grade NCSCOS technology standards, 2.06 Use and discuss basic word processing terms/concepts (e.g., desktop, menu/toll bar, documents, text and 2.07 Identify and use correct finger placement for home row keys. When it is time for the students to type their first project on word processor they will now be better prepared to do that.
Alignment:
I have met standard IIIA by aligning my lesson with the NCSCOS technology standards.
I have met standard IIIB by using technology to help the learner.
I have met standard IIIC by having students think up ways learning to type could help them.
I have met standard IIID by managing the students appropriately in the computer lab.
