Context:
I created the Science Circus write up and the Science web pages to meet the requirements of my CI 3543 class.
For the Science Circus the class divided into pairs. Each pair was given a basic science process skill to create a 5 minute center for. I worked with Deborah Hinshelwood and created a center for the skill of observation.
To find the Science web pages I used a search engine and looked through the results to find the best websites.
Impact:
The Science Circus impacted me greatly because it helped me to see how to create simple activities that can help students with their basic science skills. In class we had the Science Circus and each pair went to each station. This helped me to see how I could create activities using everyday things to help students work on the basic Science process skills.
Looking for the websites showed me that there are lots of resources that I can find on the internet for myself as a teacher, students, and parents. This will impact my students greatly because I will be able to find appropriate websites for them to use for Science.
Alignment:
I have met Standard 3, Indicator 2 by using measurement of cm in this activity. I also met this Indicator because the websites are about properties of matter.
I have met Standard 10, because this activity promotes the students to use active inquiry and observation skills.
