Service Learning Project

Rationale

Context:

This was an assignment for CI 3110 for Block II at Appalachian State University. Its purpose was for me to create a hands-on activty that explores the role of my students in their respected communities. I and a fellow intern devises a lesson plan in which students were able to clean up a nature trail that bordered their school. We described the importance of leadership and how their actions will reflect positively on others.

Impact:

The students were able to reflect on their actions and how they made a positive difference in their school and community. They picked up trash and debris off of a nature trail at their school. They made it safe for other students and teachers to use the trail. Through their initiative they became positive role models for other students.
