Many students are asked to create PowerPoint presentations and/or Windows Movie Maker movies as part of class projects here at Salpointe.  The files and links below address some of the most common problems students have creating these files.

Creative Commons Licensing Information

Creative Commons licenses allow multimedia creators to permit legal uses of their work under specific conditions. Please read the file in the attachment section below that covers the various Creative Commons licenses or visit their webite for more information: http://creativecommons.org/

    If you are having difficulty converting a large movie file, here is the Microsoft Knowledge Base article of outlining methods to solve this issue.

Audio and Sound Resources

    Includes download links and directions for installing Audacity on your home computer, and for installing the LAME MP3 encoder so that Audacity will export to .mp3 format.

    Audacity is free, open source software for sound editing and recording. From this download page, choose the appropriate version for your computer and operating system.

    FOR WINDOWS: The Lame MP3 encoder allows Audacity to export your sound recordings to MP3 files which are much smaller than standard WAV files.     A great source for presentation music that is free if used for an educational project within the school. Music is NOT free if uploaded or broadcast. Please see site for licensing details.

    Findsounds.com is a compilation of all sorts of sound files from all over the internet. Click "need examples" to find all kinds of interesting sounds! License restrictions vary for each individual sound file, so check carefully before use for copyright restrictions.

File Conversion

Ever have a file you can't open? Here's a great conversion tool to solve some of those problems.
